Jack Kerouac: On the Road and Big Sur

Discussion Questions (Choose One)
  1. In "On the Road" Kerouac writes about his relationship with Neal Cassady (Dean Moriarty) and Allen Ginsberg (Carlo Marx). Cassady was a very unique and free individual, a "bad boy" who lived the way that Kerouac and Ginsberg dreamed of living. Write about an experience that you have had or a person you have met which changed the way that you think about life.
  2. In "Big Sur" Kerouac writes about trying to get away from the people around him so that he can discover some truth about his life and try to regain control of his drinking. Have you ever felt the need to "get away" from people and just be alone to think? If so...Where did you go? What did you learn about yourself?
Write your 200-word answer in the body of an email (no .HWP or .DOC) and email it to: [email protected] by Sunday night at 6pm.
